Wonderful account of the world of firefighters. It was so interesting to read what recruits go through in their training. I have read each Hidden Cove story and they have all touched my heart. Kathryn Shay has a way of bringing the reader into her characters' lives. Knowing the realities of relationships between firefighters is a harsh lesson but many see that it's just as important to have that one person beside them in their lives. Jack and Tess learned that but knew they were more than an infatuation for each other. The most emotional scene in the book is the hospital scene with Noah on his deathbed. I honestly didn't know which way this was going to end! This is a book to be read many times!Product details

These are the first books I have read by Kathryn Shay. I became hooked on her books, blew through this series, then the O'Neil's, then the Ludzecky Sisters within one month. I turned two of my sisters on to them also, one is also finished all of them and the third sister is working her way through them (she has a husband so it is taking her longer....lol.) Great reads!!!
Loved, loved, loved this book. Downloaded it on Dec 10 and started to read it. Then decided I needed to reread the rest of the series again to refresh my memory. So, between Dec 10 and today I've read the whole series including The Fire Inside. Needless to say, I didn't get much else done! It was great to read Jack's story and to find out what happened to everyone else.
I hope Kathryn Shay decides to write more Hidden Cove books.
I have read some of the books in this series. Each book can stand in own story, but book does make references to past books and characters. Jack is the Fire Dept. Psychologist and Tess is an instructor. They clash and have differences of opinion about the training of new recruits , but they can't fight the attraction between them. Great insight on issues firefighters encounter, and very relevant to the current state of affairs and the dangers they face. Loved the romance, some sexual scenes but nothing crude or in bad taste. Overall an enjoyable book.
Good to get Jack’s story! Tess & Jack have an interesting relationship— sometimes you just want to slap them. But this was a very good story with lots of stuff happening. There is quite a bit of anxiety toward the end, but it was a great HEA,
I have to say I was anxious to read about jacks story. He was in every book and you really get to see that he's an awesome job and has a rewarding but difficult job. I'm glad he found Tess even though she gave him a run for his money!!!! I get teary eyed everytime I read about Noah and glad everything was sorted out there. Your not going to be disappointed w this book. This whole series is beyond amazing and I wish we could find more books like this. It makes you feel like your right there at the fire station with everyone. Can't help but love the huge family!!!! Great characters
I am a huge fan of The Hidden Cove series, especially Nothing More to Lose and It Had To Be You. I was happy to see that a new one was coming out. I stayed up all night reading it but I have to say I'm disappointed. I didn't feel the angst that I felt with Ric and Faith, Ian and Lisel or Lela and Beck. There was some suspense almost at the end but I just couldn't care about these characters. It seemed superficial, there was not much depth to any of it. Just not up to the standards I expect from this author.
I just finished reading The Fire Inside and A Burning Passion and read at the end of the book these may be the end of the series. I hope not!
I feel so attached to the residents of Hidden Cove and the firefighters, police, and EMS members. It has been wonderful to read their stories over many years. There are more residents Kathryn Shay can write about and I hope she continues the series.
Each book has been wonderful, except for some of the stories about infidelity, which I could do without. Otherwise the stories have been tremendous and I will continue to read them, if she writes more. I can only hope!
